homework three "everyone is altered"

In today's society especially on social media, it seems like every one that is famous or has thousands of "likes" all really look the same.  For women, body wise they all have these long legs, huge hips, and a tiny waist. None of them suffer from things like acne, small chest, or even the "awkward middle school phase" that everyone I knew including myself had to go through.  Then you start to look at the people in your everyday life.  You think of your friends, family members, and even some acquaintances, but funny enough no one seems to look like them. The richer you are the better you can look, and this article backs it up.  In today's world, the definition of beauty is not to look like yourself or embrace your natural figure but to hide all flaws and make yourself as inhumanly looking as possible.  That is the kind of message these movie stars and these editing companies are sending.  I think it is sad that we have become such a vain and self-absorbed world.  We are so worried about looking imperfect that we forget that it's totally normal to have flaws.  In fact, i think we forget that everyone has flaws and no one really cares that they are there. Personally, I do not feel pressured at all to fit this mold of what a "beautiful women" should look like. But I do think that many young women today do feel that pressure. Being able to alter your appearance to a T like that just feeds into this notion that we must be perfect.  I hope that this becomes less of a trend in the future and people can become more accepting of what they were born with and embrace how ever they look. There is no one definition of beauty and I think that needs to be the message we are sending to people.
